Jamshedpur : Panic gripped the residents of Buramines when a trailor dashed in to a stationary tanker containing hydrochloric acid at Tata Steel�s Hot Strip Mill (HSM) Transport Park.
People with fear ran to the site to witness the accident. The incident took place this morning at 11.30 am. The discharge valve of the tanker was damaged causing leakage of acid.
Tata Steel�s Fire Brigade team immediately approached the site, diluted the leaking acid by pouring water which led to generation of fumes.
No injury was reported as no one got exposed to the fumes. By 1.30 pm, the situation was brought under control and adequate precautionary measures have been put in place to restrain further discharge of acid.
