ACB grapples with surge in corruption complaints across Jharkhand

Ranchi: Widespread discontent with the conduct of government officials has prompted citizens across the state, including Ranchi, to voice their grievances, leading to a surge in complaints filed with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB). Following a recent raid on allegations of corruption against the zonal officer in Ranchi’s Ratu zone, the ACB is now inundated with complaints detailing corruption in various other zonal and block offices.

Despite the influx of complaints submitted through phone and other channels, a significant challenge arises as complainants refrain from providing written applications or presenting evidence related to corruption. This reluctance impedes the ACB’s ability to take swift action against the accused officers. The agency emphasizes the importance of concrete evidence to initiate investigations and subsequent actions against corruption.

Numerous complaints have been received against employees in government offices, including those in Kanke Zone, Nagdi Zone, Ratu Zone, Ormanjhi Zone, Tamar Block Office, and Namkum Zone in Ranchi. Notably, the recent Thursday raid resulted in the arrest of the zonal officer of Ratu zone and associated employees on charges of soliciting bribes for land mutation. ACB’s ongoing actions include raids at different locations within Ratu CO as part of their efforts to address corruption within government offices across the region.
