Jamshedpur : The ABVP has opposed changes in the mains examination pattern of civil services, claiming the inclusion of compulsory English paper will virtually block the entry of Hindi medium students to the elite services.
Demanding roll back of the decision, senior functionary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad said that as part of the national campaign ABVP activists staged demonstration across the country. The activists handed over a memorandum to DC in this regard.
As per the changes effective from this year, a 100 marks paper of English comprehension and precis will replace English and Indian language papers which were qualifying in nature and their marks were not included while forming merit list.
He noted that majority of civil services aspirants are youths residing in Hindi belts of the country, who study in government schools and colleges where English is not much emphasised upon.”Countries like China and Japan are carrying out their work in their own language and are still making development,” he said here.
