Seraikela, Sep 19: Adivasi Ho Munda community celebrated the 94th birth anniversary of late Pt. Guru Kol Lako Bodra – creator of the ‘Warang Kshiti’ script for the ‘Ho’ language, at Seraikela on Thursday Sep 19.
Chief Guest on the occasion was Champai Soren, Minister, Transportation, Industry & Tribal Welfare, Government of Jharkhand. Members of the community danced and felicitated Soren for making it to the event. Earlier on Sep 18 a book on the grammar rules of Ho Language – ‘Ho Vyakaran Ondo Nibandhavali’, written by Dr. Damyanti Sinku, was also released by the Chief Guest.
On the same day Tribal Cultural Society along with Adivasi ‘Ho’ Samaj Mahasabha and Adivasi ‘Ho’ Samaj Yuva Mahasabha, Chaibasa, organised an awareness rally on ‘Warang Kshiti’ script followed by traditional dance and song performances by the students of ‘Ho’ language classes.
Born in Paseya village of Chakradharpur sub-division of West Singhbhum district, Pt. Guru Kul Lako Bodra dedicated his life to develop an identity for his community by evolving ‘Warang Kshiti’ script. While studying in school and later pursuing course in homeopathy from Jalandhar City College, Punjab, Pt. Bodra realised the indispensability of language and literature to preserve culture of a community.
