BJP cadres celebrate victory in Assam Assembly polls

Jamshedpur, May 19: Jubilations broke out on Thursday in the steel city as the BJP won the Assembly elections in Assam. Enthusiastic party cadres burst crackers and distributed sweets soon after the final results were announced. Sweets were distributed at Sakchi and Jugsalai.

The saffron party swept the polls with 83 seats in the northeast state. Leaders extended wishes to the party on the big victory. This is the first time that the lotus has bloomed in Assam. The supporters burnt firecrackers and played with colors marking the win.

�We are happy that the party has won the crucial election. Every party worker had put in hard efforts and their work deserves to be lauded. Modiji�s charismatic personality and his vision of development favored us, voters has shown faith in his leadership,� said Nandji Prasad, district BJP president.

Men and women wearing party caps carrying flags and posters raised slogans in favor of BJP leaders. The party office at Sakchi was also bustling with activity since the counting exercise commenced in the morning. After the results were announced party workers came out on the roads and burst crackers and distributed sweets.

Similar scenes were witnessed at Jugsalai, Burmamines, Sakchi, Bistupur and Sidhgora with party workers distributing sweets and bursting crackers.

�Congress� dream to return to power for a record consecutive fourth term was dashed to the ground,� said a leader.
