Jamshedpur, May 15: In two separate road mishaps, two persons were killed and a nine-year-old boy was seriously injured in separate road mishaps on Tata-Chaibasa State Highway No 5 in Rajnagar and NH-33 at Dhalbhumgarh police station areas on Sunday.
A 40-year-old man was killed on the spot and his nine-year-old son was seriously injured a bike they were riding from Jumal village in Rajnagar to Jamshedpur was hit by a speeding truck near Hessel village in Rajnagar.
Locals rushed the two in an ambulance to the MGM Medical College and Hospital emergency, where the man was declared as brought dead.
The man who was killed on the spot was identified as Shankar Murmu, a resident of Jumal panchayat and was `mukhia’ of the Jumal village in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
The nine-year-old boy identified as Ayush Murmu was admitted at the hospital where his condition is serious. Shankar’s wife Vishakha was also was a pillion rider on the same bike, but miraculously escaped unhurt.
According to sources, Shankar Murmu was going to purchase a mobile phone from a market in Jamshedpur by riding his bike along with his son and wife, but his bike was hit by a speeding truck.
The truck driver, however, managed to escape the scene, leaving the mishap victim in a pool of blood at Hessel under Rajnagar police station area.
Officer-in-charge, Rajnagar police station, Avinash Kumar confirmed about the mishap, but said that the truck driver has managed to escape the spot with the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the injured boy, who has sustained grievous head injury, has been taken for CT scan. �His condition is serious. The boy has sustained serious head injury,” said a doctor who was attending him, adding that they may refer the injured to Tata Main Hospital soon.
In another mishap at about 6 am today a 25-year-old youth was killed as the bike he was riding was hit with a dumper at Jairamdih under Dhalbhumgarh police station area in the Ghatshila sub-division. The victim, identified as Kartik Kisku, a resident of Shyamsundarpur in Ghatshila sub-division.
