91 villagers benefit from free cataract operation camp at Noamundi

Noamundi, May 10 : In its endeavors towards serving the community, Tata Steel annually organises free cataract operation camp for aged people with vision loss.

Tata Steel�s Rural Development Society in collaboration with Sankara Nethralaya of Chennai successfully concluded a 10-day cataract camp at Government High School, Mahudi Village on May 10, 2017.

After screening 347 patients, 91 were selected and operated for cataract in the state-of-the-art operation theatre on wheels of Sankara Nethralaya.

On the concluding day, counselling session was organized for the operated patients. The doctors counselled the patients about precautions to be taken post operation. The event was inaugurated jointly by Mr R.P Mali, Chief Noamundi and Mr Surendra Chatomba, Manki of Kothgarh on May 3, 2017.

Present on the occasion were Ms Laxmi Soren, Zila Parishad Member, Noamundi, Mr Amren Dang, Block Development Officer, Noamundi, Mr Surender Chatomba, Manki of Kothgarh, Dr Dhirender Kumar, Chief Medical Officer, Tata Steel Noamundi Hospital and Mr Sanjit Adhaya, Head Operations, Noamundi, Tata Steel.
