Ranchi Dec 14: Jharkhand Governor Draupadi Murmu said that social Institutions play a vital role in spreading social awareness. According to the Governor, NGOs reach there where the government machinery cannot.
They reach out to the locals, study their problems quite closely and try to upgrade their social and economic status. She said this while discussing various developmental works done in scheduled areas, displacement because of land acquisition for projects, impact on displaced people due to establishment of projects, condition of implementation of various welfare and developmental projects in scheduled areas with the representatives of NGOs and social institutions of Jharkhand which work in the Fifth Schedule for getting suggestions for implementing law and order situation in the schedule areas of the state.
The Governor said that the state has much potential to highlight as top developing state of the nation with her minerals. She said that the NGOs and social institutions work among the people and inform them about various schemes run by the government. According to Murmu, different schemes are run by the government and the social institutions should keep making the people aware about the schemes of the government.
She appealed to the social institutions to inform people through pamphlets, hoardings etc. in local languages to ensure benefit to maximum people. She said that the Raj Bhawan will suggest the government, if required. She said that she will review the matters related with development of scheduled areas with principal secretaries/ secretaries of different departments.
She has received suggestions from the MPs, MLAs and senior journalists also from Scheduled areas in this regard. The Governor said it while meeting with the representatives of NGOs and social institutions working for the welfare of tribal people.
