Jamshedpur, Sep 20: South Asia Fellowship of Golfing Rotarian (SAFGR) organised 2nd edition of PRID Yash Pal Das Memorial Rotary Golf Tournament 2021 on 18th and 19th of September 2021.
PRID Rtn. Yash Pal Das was past Rotary International Director, a very senior and respected Rotarian and an avid Golfer. SAFGR organises this tournament each year to pay tribute to the departed Rotary leader as a mark of respect and remembrance of the noble soul.

More than 700 golfers of 34 cities from all over South East Asia participated in the tournament. This is a unique charity event where all golfers voluntarily contribute minimum USD 20 (Rs 1500) each to Rotary Foundation (India) toward Rotary’s Universal cause- Polio Eradication program.

From East Zones (compromising golfers from Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Patna, Shillong, Ranchi, Bhubneswar, Tunsukia and Sambalpur), around 200 golfers participated in this tournament. Jamshedpur city witnessed highest participation in the entire South East Asia wherein around 85 golfers registered for this tournament played over Beldih and Golmuri Golf courses. Sanjiv Paul, Vice President (Safety, Health & Sustainability), Tata Steel, and Captain, Jamshedpur Golf along with other senior company officials were present.

This tournament was followed by fellowship with live music at Golmuri Club which was attended by Rotary dignitaries from district 3250 and distinguished golfers.
Due to COVID protocol, Virtual Prize distribution ceremony will take place on 22nd September, 2021. Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta will be Chief Guest of the ceremony where large no of prizes to various winners will be awarded.
Rotarian MK Jha, Chair East Zone, thanked all golfers from East Zone for their overwhelming support and generous donation. He also thanked Rotarian Rajender Sachdev, Jeetu Garg, Sunil Marwah and Umang Jhujhunwal and Divesh Kumar Golf Administrator and management of Golmuri and Beldih Golf course for their support in making this charity event a great success.
