83 tribal youth get course completion certificates

Jamshedpur, Dec 3: Aiming at imparting skills to tribal youth through training and coaching to make them employable, Tribal Cultural Society (TCS) supported 83 tribal boys and girls to pursue Hardware and Networking course at Indian Institute of Hardware and Technology (IIHT) Jamshedpur.

The one-and-half-year course has enabled 44 students to get placed in companies like Sony, Techno Soft, IBM and HP. Another 18 students are undergoing on-the-job training.

The successful trainees were given certificates at a function held at Tribal Culture Centre, Sonari on December 1, 2014. Biren Ramesh Bhuta, Chief, CSR, Tata Steel and Mrs Urmila Ekka, Honorary Secretary, Tribal Cultural Society were present at the function.

Working as an employability enabler, Tata Steel runs various skill development programmes to enable youth gain skills to get jobs as well as become self-employed. The objective is to transform unskilled human resource to a productive resource pool for growth and societal development.
