8 positives in Jamshedpur up corona tally to 351

44 new cases reported in Jharkhand

Ranchi, June 24:  Coronavirus cases are touching newer heights in Jharkhand with every passing day. Multiplying more than three times in the last three weeks, the total number of coronavirus cases is about to reach 2,300. The number of Covid-19 cases was around 600 in the first week of the month. With 44 new cases on Thursday state corona tally has reached 2263. In Jamshedpur the COVID-19 tally has risen to 351 with 8 new cases reported on June 25. The district administration spokesperson informed that 8 corona positives and one suspect has been identified.  

Of the 8 positives in Jamshedpur, 1 has travel history to Howrah, 1 has retunred from Qatar, 1 Mumbai, 3 Pune, 1 Haryana and 1 person has returned from Delhi. The corona suspect identified on Thursday has also returned from Delhi.

One of the positive is a resident of Sundernagar, 1 from Giridih, 1 from Mango, 1 from Sidhgora, 1 from Birsanagar, 1 from Parsudih and 2 from Dhalbhumgarh. The suspect is also resident of Dhalbhumgarh. All the positives have been admitted to COVID-19 ward.

On Wednesday, 4 patients have recovered in the East Singhbhum district. Two persons were discharged from TMH and one each from MGM and Tata Motors Hospital. Of the 4 discharged one is from nurse hostel and one each from Telco, Agrico and Golmuri.

Other positives in Jharkhand are from Giridih 8, Gumla 5, Hazaribagh 5, Koderma 5, Doeghar 4, Khunti 3, Ranchi 2, Simdega 2, Bokaro 1 and Palamau 1.

Total active cases in the state stand at 644 while Dumka and Pakur are the only district that are corona free while Jharkhand has reported 12 deaths. A corona positive person died in Hazaribagh on Wednesday taking the Jharkhand death tally to 12.  

More than 1841 corona patients tested positive are migrant workers who returned to Jharkhand after May 1.

In Jharkhand, there has been no percentage prevalence of community transmission found in the Sero-Survey conducted by Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in three districts of the state.

Based on the reports received by ICMR, there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in Jharkhand.


The first case of the pandemic was reported from Hindpiri on March 31, when a 22-year-old Malaysian woman, who had been to Delhi�s Tablighi Jamaat congregation, tested positive. She has since been discharged after being recorded from the dreaded disease. East Singhbhum district accounts for 351 cases out of a total of 2263. The state has allowed reopening of garments and footwear shops. The religious places are still closed.
