8 Jharkhand children including two girls victims of trafficking rescued from Delhi

Ranchi, August 31: Chief Minister Hemant Soren intervention saw human trafficking victims being rehabilitated in their homes. 
As part of this episode, two girls and 8 children of Jharkhand victims of human trafficking were rescued from Delhi and brought rehabilitation. to Jharkhand. They have been rescued with the help of Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre, New Delhi, Jharkhand Bhawan and Child Welfare Association.

It is worth mentioning that as per the directions of the resident commissioner Mastram Meena, the children who have been victims of human trafficking, misplaced or trapped were rescued from Delhi by the Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre, New Delhi after visiting various areas in coordination with Delhi police, child welfare committee and child welfare committees. 

The rescued girls and children in Delhi had been through a broker from their village and sold by touts for a hefty amount. Some children were rescued while they fleeing from the place of their work. Delhi Police cooperated with the children and sent them to the children’s home. Some children were forcibly sent by their parents to human traffickers twice in Delhi, where they were subjected to mental and physical abuse.

Nodal Officer Integrated Rehabilitation-cum-Resource Centre, New Delhi  Nachiketa informed that a child was living in Delhi’s Children’s Home for the last two years. He told that the boy does not have a father and his mother had remarried. Similarly, a girl’s mother has left the girl’s father and married another person and started living in his house. The girl’s stepfather and mother had handed over the girl twice to human traffickers. The department has sent a letter to the District Social Welfare Officer informing them to pay special attention to these children. With the help of District Social Welfare Officer, Gumla, a successful attempt has been made to enrol a child in the school.

The children being sent to Jharkhand will be continuously monitored through the Village Child Protection Committee (VLCPC) connecting them with the welfare schemes, sponsorship, foster care and getting them admitted in Kasturba Gandhi Residential Girls Schools run in the district.
