Jamshedpur, May 29: After May 31, Reliance India Mobileís 2G and 3G SIM will stop working. Along with this, Walky set of RIM will stop functioning. Subscribers who want to continue to avail the services should change their CDMA SIM to 4G GSM SIM.
The company is providing free SIM to the subscribers who exchange their CDMA for SIM. Subscribers just need to visit the Reliance outlet with a facsimile of their photo ID proof and a color photograph to get the 4G SIM.
Consumers of other mobile companies, who want to convert their connection 4G, can also get the SIM with zero balance. The company is also offering 11GB data free to RIM consumers, who are availing the 4G SIM to ensure that the consumers don’t get converted to other networks.
Soon after getting converted from RIM to GSM, 1GB data will be made available and when GSM 4G comes on air the remaining 10GB data will be provided. According to company sources, message is being sent continuously to RIM CDMA consumers as well as those using Smart, Vodafone, Aircel services. †
RIM is providing all possible facilities to the consumers, who are using RIM CDMA service, and to convert their networks to GSM 4G. According to a company official, any consumer availing this facility and converting from RIM CDMA to GSM 4G will get all the balance transferred from CDMA to GSM.
In addition, they can also use the same offer package they were using in CDMA until the new package of 4G arrives. After converting the RIM SIM to 4G, consumers will have to SMS 19 digit number at the back of the 4G SIM to 1299. For SMS, consumer will have to write (4G > space < 19 digit numbers) and get themselves registered. Once the 2G/3G CDMA is converted into 4G GSM, hundreds and thousands of handsets will become worthless. In other words, it can only be used as a paper weight or one can keep it as show piece. To avail 4G GSM service, consumers will have to buy a new handset. Currently, Tata Indicom is providing CDMA service. Officials at a Reliance mobile outlet in city said that around 75,000 RIM prepaid connections in Jamshedpur will be converted. Along with this, 3200 consumers are using post paid connection. All the consumers will be converted to GSM 4G with the balance and older plan.
