642nd Birth anniversary of Saint Rabidas at Birsanagar

Jamshedpur: The 642nd Birth Anniversary of Saint Rabidas was celebrated at Rabidas Basti in Birsanagar on the auspicious occasion of Magh Purnima.

The slokas of the Saint and recitations from the Panch Vani were performed by Ranjit Rabidas and Abu Lal Das. The life, philosophy and aesthetic values of Saint Rabidas were explained. Rabidas had preached that people should rise above the class and caste divides and treat every person as equal. Rabidas was always criticized and looked down by upper class people because of his preaching but he stuck to his belief and never discriminated against people. He was also the guru of Krishna�s devotee Mirabai.

To give the occasion a fair-like atmosphere, there was a competition of Golgappa Khao contest for women, musical chair contest and balloon burst event for children. Solo and group dance events were also organized. The entire Rabidas Basti partook of the sacred offerings to Saint Rabidas.

The organizing committee for the 642nd Saint Rabidas Birth Anniversary celebration included Ranjit Rabidas, Narendra Rabidas, Vinod Rabidas, Jaji Rabidas, Chaitanya Rabidas, Mukesh Rabidas, Lalu Rabidas, Vijay Rabidas, Subodh Rabidas, Naranjan Rabidas, Basu Rabidas, Sandip Rabidas, Pinku Rabidas, Raju Rabidas, Raghu Rabidas, Jiten Rabidas, Santosh Rabidas, Sanjay Rabidas and Kalu Rabidas.
