Over 600 participate in voter awareness walkathon

Jamshedpur, Dec. 20: More than 600 people participated in the ‘Walkathon’, a voter awareness rally organised as part of the voter awareness campaign on Tuesday.

People walked 3 km distance to mark the event. The rally was jointly flagged off by East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar and mountaineer Bachendri Pal.

The main objective of the rally is to spread awareness among the people regarding voter registration and their voting rights.

The rally start at JRD Tata Sports Complex and traversed through Modi Park, Straight Mile Road and Jubilee Park before culminating near Sacred Heart Convent School.

To encourage the participants SSP Anoop T Mathew, Rural SP Shailendra Baranwal, SDO Suraj Kumar, Archery coach Purnima Mahato, SOR Vindeshwari Tatma, ADM Subodh Kumar, election officer Gayatri Kumari, deputy collector Sanjay Kumar, Civil Surgeon SK Jha, DEO Rk Prasad Singh and others were present.

The JAP-6 jawans, representatives of Civil defence, Red Cross, NCC along with school students, NGOs, Tata Steel Sports Department officials and teachers also participated.
