Jamshedpur: The 59th death anniversary of freedom fighter Pandit Nokhe Lal Mishra was observed with a programme of service and remembrance. On the occasion, the Pandit Nokhe Lal Mishra Memorial Trust distributed one thousand food packets among the poor at Tata Nagar Station Chowk, Golpahari, Ram Mandir Bistupur, and Dumuhani.
The distribution drive was inaugurated at Tata Nagar Station Chowk by the chief guest, Dr. Raghunath Mishra, who handed over food packets to beneficiaries. In his address, Dr. Mishra recalled the freedom fighter’s significant role in preventing the division of Singhbhum into Bengal and Odisha, ensuring its continuance within Bihar. He urged the Jharkhand government to honour Pandit Nokhe Lal Mishra with a posthumous title, name a road after him, and recognise his contributions with further state-level honours.
The ceremony was presided over by Sanjay Mishra, Chairman of the Trust, while Chief Patron Anand Mishra stressed that Pandit Nokhe Lal Mishra has not been honoured in proportion to his contributions. He announced that the Trust officials would soon meet the Assembly Speaker and the Chief Minister to press for due recognition. General Secretary Ravindra Mishra alias Chandan Mishra presented the Trust’s report during the programme.
Several members and supporters contributed to the success of the function, including Krishna Nand Jha, Vivekanand Jha, Vijay Jha, Shishir Mishra, Guna Nand Jha, Ashok Mishra, Nilesh Jha, Indu Mishra, Chunchun Mishra, Akhilesh Mishra, Sunil Mishra, Phool Babu Jha, Awadhesh Mishra, Satan Mishra, Naveen Mishra, Ranjit Kumar Jha and others.
