Jamshedpur: There are 574 people in Jamshedpur block who have been declared disqualified to contest panchayat by-poll this year. They will not be eligible to contest any election for the next three years. After Jamshedpur, Potka, Mosabani and Ghatsila have a considerable number of such candidates. However, in Bodam, no candidate has been disqualified as yet.
Those disqualified include 324 Mukhiya candidates, 399 panchayat committee member candidates and 1117 ward member candidates. These candidates had participated in the 2015 panchayat elections. But they did not submit details of expenditure with the Election Commission despite repeated notices and reminders.
This led the distict administration to disqualify them on the basis of their poll misconduct.
Sources said ward members candidates can spend Rs 10,000 in election campaign while panchayat committee member and Mukhiya candidates can spend Rs 50,000 and s 60,000 respectively. Those aspiring to be elected as Zila Parishad member can spend up to Rs 1.5 lakh, sources said.
