Jamshedpur, April 5: A 50-year-old man was shot dead at Sriguttu village near Dimna Resort under Bodamp olice station area in Patamdaon Thursday morning.The murder victim was identified as Srikant Hansda, a resident of Sriguttu. Hansda’s body was found lying in a pool of blood.His body was lying near his motorcycle.
A police party led by OC, Bodam police station, Vikrant Kumar rushed to the spot to probe the incident.
” We are investing into the incident.The victim died of bullet injuries. Apparently, the victim had sustained two bullets — one in the head and another in the chest,” said Kumar. The officer-in-charge said that the area where the murder took place is considered to be naxal-infested area.
” It is too early to comment but we do not rule out the possibility of hand of CPI-Maoist rebels behind Hansda’s murder as naxals used to visit that area regularly. A land dispute between the murder victim and a resident of his village may also be the reason. We have registered a case of murder against unknown on the statement made by the victim’s son TulshiramHansda,” said the officer-in-charge.
