Jamshedpur, July 1: A 50-year-old man was run over by a goods train at Tatanagar station under government railway police station, Tatanagar in the wee hours of Sunday. The body was found lying in the main line.
The victim whose body is yet to be identified was said to have been run over accidentally by a goods train. OC, GRP, Tatanagar, Shyam Nandan Jha said from the condition of the body and the place where it was lying, they assumed it to be a case of mishap.
“We are investigating the mishap. We did not find any ticket from the possession of the deceased, but it is certain that the man might be a railway passenger and might have come under any goods train accidentally,” said Jha.
The railway police have sent the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem. The railway police have also decided to keep the body at the mortuary for 72 hours for identification.
A railway police official said that no one had seen when exactly the man was run over, but they assume the mishap to have taken past 2 am.
According to information about five persons have died in train mishaps taken place at the Tatanagar station area during the past two months.
