Seraikela, Sept. 2: Under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India self reliant, Saraikela Nagar Panchayat president Minakshi Pattanaik batted for the self reliance of women and took ujpt he matter earnestly with the Gram Udyog Board leading to the selection of 50 women under the Nagar Panchayat jurisdiction who were provided 10 days’ training in manufacturing incense sticks. These women will be provided foot-operated incense stick making machine worth Rs 20,000, other necessary tools worth Rs 1,000 and Rs 2,000 in cash as working capital.
The facilitation was provided by Khadi Gram Udyog Commission of the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Government of India for the purpose of women empowerment under self-reliant India. Manoj Kumar Singh, member of Khadi Gram Udyog Commission (Eastern Region), was present in the programme organized at the Saraikela Town Hall on Thursday, September 2.
Manoj Kumar Singh, while congratulating the 50 women beneficiaries informed about the programs being run by the Khadi Gram Udyog Commission (KGUC) under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program. He informed about mineral, forest, agro and grain horticulture, polymer and chemical based industries, rural engineering and biotechnology, textile and service industries’ programs.
He said that KGUC was making continuous efforts towards developing rural self-employment by making them technically efficient. JB Tubid, former Home Secretary, Government of Jharkhand, who was playing an important role in self-employment development and women’s empowerment in the Kolhan Region, said on the occasion that the main objective was to connect women with self-employment by making them technically efficient, especially in rural areas so that they could play important roles in adding to family coffers as well as uplifting living standards.
The program commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp garlanding the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi. During the program, Seraikela Nagar Panchayat President Minakshi Pattanaik, Khadi Gram Udyog Board’s Director (Ranchi) JK Gupta, LDM BK Sinha, DIC GM and Laghu Udyog Bharati’s Manoj Kumar wished the women beneficiaries a bright future.
The program was conducted by Rajeev Malhotra, Director, KGUC state Office, Ranchi. The vote of thanks was offered by Vipin Kumar Sinha, Secretary, Singhbhum Village Industries Development Institute.
It may be mentioned that Seraikela Nagar Panchayat President Minakshi Pattanaik has been endeavoring to unite women groups and needy women under Nagar Panchayat area under several self employment schemes and the 50 women who received the opportunity for self relianjce through incense stick manufacturing is a result of her relentless efforts towards this end. Minakshi has been organizing training and opening up self employment avenues for women.
