Jamshedpur, July 27: A significant development is underway at Jamshedpur Workers College, with the installation of a 50 KVA solar plant to meet the campus’s electricity needs. College management is actively preparing for the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) evaluation. An important meeting was held on Friday to review the NAAC preparations, where Dr. Alok Kumar presented a report on the progress made so far. Dr. PK Pani, a senior teacher and in-charge of the NAAC committee of Kolhan University, provided guidelines regarding the preparations.

Dr. Pani highlighted that the current NAAC evaluation system, which assesses colleges on seven points, will remain in effect only until December 2024. After that, the evaluation will be expanded to ten points. Principal Dr. Satyapriya Mahalik urged all teachers to complete the remaining work to their full capacity. He also announced that an introduction session will be organized for newly enrolled students, with graduation classes set to begin in August.

Dr. Mahalik emphasized the ongoing updates at the college. To meet the increasing network and data needs, a new connection has been established, and facilities in the computer lab are being enhanced. Currently, the college relies on a generator during power cuts. The upcoming solar plant, funded by the Central and State Governments, will be installed on the roof of the main building and is expected to be operational within a month. This initiative will significantly reduce the college’s electricity bill while providing a sustainable energy solution.
