Jamshedpur: Monsoon rains have disrupted life across Jharkhand, leading to tragic incidents of house collapses. In Kol Shimla village under Kharsawan police station of Seraikela-Kharsawan district, a mud house collapsed around 4:00 am on Saturday, killing a 5-year-old girl.
The house belonged to Munna Bodra (25), who was inside with his wife Anushka (22) and their two daughters, Bajay (5) and Guruvari (2.5 years). As the house gave way under two days of heavy downpour, the family was buried under the debris. Anushka shielded her younger daughter, saving her, but Bajay died on the spot. Munna and his wife sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Seraikela Sadar Hospital by neighbors.
Meanwhile, in Khunti district, continuous rainfall has caused rivers to overflow. The Tajna river is flowing above danger level, submerging the Tajna Mukti Dham and flooding roads, alarming residents. Ranchi recorded 124 mm of rainfall in a single day. (w/gsd)
