45-Year-old shot dead in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: A chilling incident unfolded late last night as 45-year-old Shakti Nath Singh, also known as W Singh, was gunned down in a brazen attack under the Ulidih thana area. Singh, who was seated in his car near his residence in Shantinagar, Gaud Bustee, was fatally shot by a lone assailant.

Singh, a staff member of the irrigation department, was hit by seven bullets and died instantly. The assailant fled the scene on foot, creating a stir in the densely populated area.

The attack is believed to be linked to ongoing gang wars in the region. The Ulidih thana OC, along with City SP Rishabh Garg, arrived at the scene shortly after the shooting. The police are currently examining CCTV footage to identify the perpetrator. Preliminary information suggests that Mantu Singh, a notorious criminal recently released from jail, might be responsible for the murder.

This violent episode follows the murder of Singh’s brother, Amarnath Singh, who was also a victim of a gang feud last year in Ulidih. The police have registered a case against unknown individuals and have transferred the body to the MGM Medical College mortuary for postmortem.

In a related development, local residents had recently approached Senior SP Kishore Kaushal to report alleged excesses committed by Shakti Nath Singh, highlighting ongoing tensions and dissatisfaction within the community.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police are working to bring the culprits to justice while addressing the broader issues of gang violence in the area.
