400 clerical grade staff on indefinite in the district

Jamshedpur : Work in the district collectorate was hampered as about 400 clerical grade staff in the East Singhbhum district went on an indefinite strike from
Tuesday morning in support of their year-long demand for wage revision and change in the grade of employees.

Around 100 such staff also staged dharna the district collectorate in support of their demand.

Work at registration department, social welfare, treasury, land revenue, and Dhalbhum sub divisional office was hampered due to the strike.

“We have been receiving assurances from past one year. We are adamant this time unless are
demands are met we will continue with our agitation.

We have already submitted our list of demands to the deputy commissioner. We will continue our agitation till we get a positive response from state capital,” said Ramesh Kumar a senior functionary.

The functionary further said that works was hampered not only at the district collectorate but also at block headquarters, sub-division levels.

“We want the government restructure our wage and giving us benefits of medical allowance,
allowance and education allowance” added Kumar.

Meanwhile, the district administration admitted of the problem faced due to the strike but
expressed helplessness.
