Jamshedpur, March 22: In a bizarre incident, a villager killed another to death over a dispute related to plucking a jackfruit. The incident took place at Sardabera village in Hutu panchayat under the Kandra police station area in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district near Jamshedpur.
The victim was identified as Konda Munda (40) had plucked a jackfruit from the tree that falls under the premises of his neighbour Sonia Munda. When Sonia Munda came to know about it in the night, he called Konda and opposed the act.
Sonia Munda (35) brought an axe from his house and hit the victim repeatedly until he did not die. After killing the neighbour, Sonia Munda ran out of the spot towards the adjoining jungle with the axe.
OC, Kandra police station, Rajendra Prasad Mahto confirmed the murder which resulted in a dispute over a jackfruit. “We are trying to trace the assailant Sonia Munda who has absconded after committing the murder. Our effort is in the Kandra jungle as villagers pointed out that Sonia Munda has run away towards the forest patch,” said the OC.
The police have sent the body to Seraikela Sadar Hospital for postmortem having registered a case of murder against Sonia Munda.
