3rd Jharkhand State Yogasana Championship: Saryu Roy Says Yoga is India’s Identity

Jamshedpur: The 3rd Jharkhand State Yogasana Sports Championship was held on Sunday at the Andhra Association School auditorium, near the Kadma Ganesh Puja Ground. Contestants from across Jharkhand participated in categories ranging from five-year-old children to senior citizens over 60.

World Fitness Federation of Yogasana Sports (WFFYS) Jharkhand Chapter and the Sarkar Yoga Academy jointly organized the championship that had 12 age categories for the participants. The specially designed ‘Star Category’ for differently-abled children and the ‘Moms Category’ for women participants stood out as the biggest attractions of the championship.

Dignitaries Praise the Initiative

Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy, social worker Alok Malhotra, and Andhra Association President Manoj Satyanarayan inaugurated the event.

Addressing the gathering, Roy stated that yoga is not merely a physical exercise but the foundation of a disciplined and healthy lifestyle. He praised the Sarkar Yoga Academy for giving yoga a new identity in Jamshedpur and across Jharkhand, remarking that yoga has now emerged as India’s cultural identity on the global stage.

Social worker Alok Malhotra added that yoga is essential in today’s world to help children and youth stay away from excessive mobile phone usage and lifestyle-related stress. Manoj Satyanarayan described yoga as an invaluable heritage of Indian culture and emphasized the importance of connecting the younger generation with this ancient tradition.

Sanju Behan from the Brahma Kumaris stated that regular yoga practice brings positivity and mental peace into life. CBMD representative Manoj Singh and social worker Munna Singh also appreciated the initiative and encouraged the participants.

Road to the Nationals

Anshu Sarkar, President of the WFFYS Jharkhand Chapter, Founder of the Sarkar Yoga Academy, yoga expert, announced that winners from the state championship would earn the opportunity to represent Jharkhand at the National Yogasana Sports Championship. The organizers have scheduled the national-level event in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, from June 26 to June 28, 2026.
