Jamshedpur, April 2: To strengthen the police patrolling system, 360-degree cameras are being installed in patrolling vehicles across the city. These cameras, capable of rotating in all directions, will provide real-time monitoring to the police control room, ensuring better law enforcement and quicker response times. Currently, four PCR vans have been equipped with these high-tech cameras and the remaining 26 vehicles, including 10 highway patrol cars, will be upgraded soon. The system will allow officers to track police movement, monitor incidents and ensure that PCR vans reach crime scenes promptly.
“Installing 360-degree cameras will help in monitoring police patrols and identifying miscreants. The recorded footage will also serve as evidence against criminals, making police operations more effective,” said DSP Manoj Kumar Thakur.
Key features of the system:
Live monitoring from the control room
Verification of police response time to incidents
Tracking of negligent personnel during duty
Identifying criminals and gathering evidence through video footage
Equipped with IP addresses for secure connectivity
The police department has assured that all patrolling vehicles will soon be equipped with 360-degree surveillance, enhancing crime prevention and public safety.
