Competitions lined up at Tata Zoo during Wild Life Week

Jamshedpur, Sep 27: Come October and the entire�nation readies up to celebrate�wildlife week, which�generally kick starts on 2nd�of October on the occasion�of birth anniversary of Mahatma�Gandhi, who was the�greatest advocate for animal�welfare.

The genesis of�commemorating wildlife�week for generating awareness�among the common�masses towards preservation�and protection of Indian�wildlife was initiated at the�behest of the then Indian�Board for Wildlife and now�re-christened as National�Board for Wildlife in the year�1952. Zoos have been identified in the country as primary�instruments for spreading�awareness on wildlife�conservation and initiating�steps for their preservation.

Tata Steel Zoological Park�since its inception has been�spearheading the awareness�and education programmes�on wildlife in the city of�Jamshedpur.
The zoo will be commemorating�wildlife week from 1st�to 6th October, 2013. This�year too, various activities�have been chalked out during�Wildlife Week to carry�forward and spread awareness�among the student�community and people at�large for wildlife conservation.
