Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Minister for Urban Development and Housing, Sudivya Kumar, inaugurated the Birsanagar Affordable Housing Project via video conferencing today. Built under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), the project features 644 flats distributed across two residential blocks.
During the inauguration ceremony, officials distributed keys and allotment letters to 322 beneficiaries. Nearly 1,000 beneficiaries and their family members attended the event.

MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and MLA Purnima Sahu were also present, while Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy joined the programme online. The Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department, the Director of Urban Administration, and the Director of SUDA also joined the session from Ranchi.
At the Birsanagar project site, Municipal Commissioner Yogendra Prasad, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar, and other officials and staff from the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) managed the proceedings.

Following the inauguration ceremony, beneficiaries performed rituals and moved into their new homes. The families expressed gratitude to both the Central and State governments for helping them secure their dream homes.
To promote environmental conservation and green development, MP Mahato and MLA Sahu planted saplings within the residential complex. They urged citizens to plant and protect trees to keep the housing area clean, beautiful, and eco-friendly.

In their addresses, the Minister and public representatives highlighted that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) serves as a historic initiative to provide dignified and secure housing to economically weaker sections of society. They added that the Birsanagar Affordable Housing Project will not only provide shelter but will also significantly elevate the living standards of thousands of citizens, marking a major milestone in Jamshedpur’s urban development.
