Jamshedpur, Sept. 13: Over 3000 students from the city appeared in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) began at 2 pm at four centres. The elite exams were conducted at Jamshedpur Public School, Baridih, DAV Public School, Bistupur, Netaji Subhash University and Vidhya Bharti Chinmaya Vidhyalya, Telco.

From the city, a total of 3119 students took part in it.

Students were allotted different slots for entry to ensure there is staggered movement and social distancing is maintained. The exams were conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Anupriya Dutta, a student, who appeared in the exam from DAV Public School, Bistupur said that she was happy to have appeared medical entrance exam which has already been deferred multiple times owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The exam was originally scheduled for May 3, but was pushed to July 26, and then to September 13 she informed.

Another student, who had to travel from Ghatshila, said that online exam would have been a better option for the students than a pen and paper-based test.

But the students are happy as further delay in exams would have caused loss of a year.

�Thankfully the buses have resumed before the exam because I was concerned about travelling to the exam centre.

We were asked to maintain distance at the centre and had to carry sanitizers with us,� he said.

At the entry gate of the examination centres body temperature of the students were recorded through thermal gun.

Candidates were asked to display Admit cards, Valid Govt. ID proof, to invigilator on duty across the table.

Moreover, masks and gloves were mandatory for invigilators.

Housekeeping staff manning the washrooms must insist that the candidates wash their hands before leaving the washroom.

The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India (GOI) has established National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent autonomous and self-sustained premier testing organisation for conducting efficient, transparent and international standard tests.

NEET was conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) for admission to MBBS/BDS Courses and other undergraduate medical courses in approved/recognised Medical/Dental & other Colleges/ Institutes in India.
