3 year-old boy drowns, mother rescued in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Sept 27: A woman, identified as Sunita Devi, 32, was rescued while her three year old son, Lucky Sahu, drowned in the Kharkai river at Adityapur on Friday. The woman was taken to a local hospital where her condition was reportedly serious.

Sources said the woman had gone to Adityapur Bridge with his two sons with the intention to commit suicide. The woman had had a quarrel with her husband, Santosh Kumar Sahu, a resident of Bagbera, on the issue of going to her parental home. Agitated after a debate with her husband, she set out of her house to end it all. Doubting her intentions, a passer-by snatched her elder son, Vikrant Sahu, 4, from her custody. The woman however jumped from the bridge with her younger son. By that time, a crowd had gathered at the scene. Some people rushed to the river and rescued the woman, but got no clue about her child.
