Car with devotees returning from Mahakumbh collides with truck
Ranchi, February 10: A car full of devotees returning to Ranchi after bathing in the Maha Kumbh held in Prayagraj met with an accident in Hazaribagh district leaving three women death and seven injured.
The accident took place near Birsa Football Ground in Charhi police station area of Hazaribagh. Police sent all three bodies for post-mortem while seven injured were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
Of the dead women, two are from Ranchi and one from Gumla district. Of the 7 injured women, 6 are from Ranchi and one is from Lohardaga district.
The horrific accident took place in Charhi on Monday (10 February 2025) at 6:30 am. The car returning from Prayagraj to Ranchi collided with two trucks parked near Birsa Football Ground on National Highway (NH-33). One truck’s number is JH 01BZ 9170 and the other’s is JH 05 BC 7191. All the devotees in the car are residents of ITI Hehal.
The deceased have been identified as Sanju Devi, Sonia Devi, Asha Devi.
There were 11 people in the car including 10 female devotees. Eyewitnesses told that apart from the driver, 10 female devotees were in the Tata Sumo Gold car. All were returning to Ranchi after taking bath in Maha Kumbh. Meanwhile, the car met with an accident on the way. 3 women in the car died on the spot.. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the police of Charhi police station reached the spot.
These seven female devotees were injured:- Kanti Devi, Asita Devi, Punita Devi, Gudiya Devi, Uma Devi, Ranju Devi, Jyoti Kant.
The police took the bodies of all the deceased in their custody and sent them for postmortem. The injured were sent to Hazaribagh Sadar Hospital for better treatment. The deceased have been identified as Sanju Devi, wife of Jitendra Gop, Sonia Devi, resident of Soso, Kanke and Asha Devi, resident of Gumla.
The names of the injured are Kanti Devi, wife of Kameshwar Gop (Ranchi), Asita Devi, wife of Rameshwar Gop (Sewadi, Mandar, Ranchi), Punita Devi, wife of Ashutosh Gop (Bundu, Ranchi), Gudiya Devi, wife of Rajendra Gop (Pandaria, Bhandra police station, Lohardaga), Uma Devi, wife of late Rameshwar Mishra (Bajra, Ranchi), Ranju Devi, wife of Shailendra Kumar Pathak (Ranchi, Bajra) and Jyoti Kant, wife of Umakant (Kerali Public School, Bajra, Ranchi).
