Jamshedpur : In a road mishap, a 25-year-old youth was killed on the spot and six others injured as the SUV they were travelling in hit into a truck on NH-33 along the Birlong village under Chowka police station area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
All the seven victims were residents of Azad Nagar in Mango and had appeared for an interview before an agency which offered job in the Gulf.
The youth who was killed on the spot was identified as Nadim Alam, and those injured were identified as Mohammed Aquib, Mohammed Javed, Mohammed Ibrar, Mohammed Shamsuddin, Mohammed Mustaque, and Mohammed Taj, all between the age-group of 23 to 25 years.
The injured, who all had sustained head injuries, were rescued by the police and rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital.
The police seized the body of the youth who killed on the spot and brought it the Chowka thana and also seized the ill-fated SUV.
Officer-in-charge, Chowka thana, Anjani Kumar Singh said a patrolling party was a little distance away from the spot of mishap and hence the police had reached the spot within few minutes.
He said two of the injured are in serious condition and not in a condition to speak and those who can speak are unwilling to reveal the driver’s identity.
Cases of the fatal mishap on the NH-33 and also on unlit Tata-Kandra Road are on the rise. During the past one year five persons have died after their vehicles rammed into stationary trailers on Tata-Kandra Road linking Jamshedpur to the Adityapur-Gamharia-Kandra and also Chowka.
Officer-in-charge, Gamharia thana, RK Singh accepted that at least three mishaps in which bike riders and also driver of the car failed to take notice of stationary trailers and rammed into the heavy vehicles.
