Jamshedpur, Nov. 23: The 588th Free Eye Cure Camp organized under the direction of DC Suraj Kumar and President, Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), from 21st to 23rd November, by IRCS in association with Ram Manohar Lohia Seva Sansthan, concluded today. Conducted at Ram Manohar Lohia Netralaya at Bagbera to help in the eradication of blindness in the district East Singhbhum, the camp saw many patients with eye ailments thronging on the first day in which they were first screened for eye problems out of which 24 patients were operated for cataract and other eye ailments.
Sponsored by Govind Prasad Dodrajka, a renowned social worker and Patron of IRCS in memory of his parents Late Narmada Devi and Late Satyanarayanji Dodrajka, the camp was a success as 24 patients could get back clear vision.
While eminent Ophthalmologist of Jamshedpur, Dr B P Singh along with Dr Poonam Singh from Tata Main Hospital and Dr Anand Sushroot conducted the operations yesterday, Dr Singh today opened the bandages, checked the patients and applied eye drops to the operated patients.
At the time of discharge of patients today, Smita Nagesia, Nodal Officer, Blindness Eradication Campaign, East Singhbhum, Bijay Kumar Singh, Hony Secretary, IRCS, Bal Mulkund Goyal, President, Ram Manohar Lohia Seva Sansthan and Raju Singh, noted social worker of the city, provided the patients with dark glasses and eye drops.
The District Rural Health Department, Tata Main Hospital and Ram Manohar Lohia Seva Sansthan, have extended assistance in successfully organizing this Eye Camp. Prior to the commencement of Eye Camp, all patients were screened for COVID 19 by the district surveillance team and all necessary virus protocol were followed while organizing the camp.
