23-year-old youth from Ranchi killed in road mishap

Jamshedpur : A 23-year-old youth was killed and three others were injured as the car they were in was hit by a trailer at Urmal on NH-33 under Ichagarh police station area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on Sunday morning.

Additional director general (ADG) Special Branch, Rezi Dungdung whose car was behind the car also had collision, resulting in Dungdung’s car to get badly damaged, but he himself had a narrow escape. The victim who died on the spot was identified as Amit Agrawal, a resident of Harmu, Ranchi.

Sources said Amit was coming to a relative’s house in in Golmuri along with his mother Kusum Agrawal and sister Akanksha (15). Both Kusum and Akankshya were injured and have been admitted to Tata Main Hospital.

Officer-in-charge, Ichagarh, Kundan Ram said immediately after the mishap, the local residents had arrived at the spot and rescued the victims.

Ram said the ADG’s car was severely damaged in the mishap but neither his driver nor he himself was injured. He said the ADG returned back from the place of occurrence back to Ranchi immediately afterward.

The police have seized the body and also the trailer involved in the mishap for further action.
