Jamshedpur: The security forces on Monday recovered 22 can bombs meant for targeting patrolling security men. The explosives were recovered from a lane from Regadbera to Arahasa under Goilkera police station of West Singhbhum District.
Acting on a tip off, a team comprising district police CRPF 60 battalion, 157 battalion and Jharkhand Jaguar was rushed to the spot for search operation. During the drive 22 bombs were recovered from a 120 meters area leading towards a forest.
A police osaid that the security forces successfully diffuse the bombs. The area where the explosives were recovered was usually frequented by commoners and villagers.
Police said that the security has been beefed up in the area and they were keeping strict vigil on movement of the Naxlites. “ In view of the New Year we have increased the security.,” said a security official. He said that it is confirmed it is handiwork of Maoists. “We are, however, trying hard to find out the persons or group of persons involved in planting the bombs,” he said.

We are not much concerned about small acts of violence because these activities can be controlled by us, but the bigger attacks are worrisome,” said a security official.
It may be mentioned here that West Singhbhum is a part of rebels’ corridor. The place is covered with dense jungle, the Maoists consider it a safe place for holding meetings or organising training camps on a regular basis. Sources informed that apart from ensuring deployment of additional police and paramilitary forces, the operations and patrolling had been intensified to check the possibility of entry of Maoists from neighbouring states. Strict vigil is being kept in Maoist-affected pockets of the district.
