Jamshedpur, July 29: The Sports department of Tata Steel organized a Cross Country race for Jogga school children, Jusco and Project schools on the occasion of 113th birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna JRD Tata on Saturday, July 29. Srimanti Sen, President, Jogga was the chief guest who flagged off the cross country race.
Around 2000 children participated in the event. 407 participants from 11 schools project schools and 818 participants from 30 JOGGA School participated in the event.
The event was held in different categories. In the Junior Boys 3 Km event-Wahid Gaddi of St. Mary’s English High School was first followed by Mayank Srivastava of SDSM and Shakib Ali of KPS Mango.
In the senior girls 3 km-Riya Raj Jha of MNPS was first, Isha of AIWC Academy of Excellence was second while Mahima Gautam of DBMS Kadma High School was third.
In junior girls 2 km-Sarah Sharma of Sacred Heart Convent School was first followed by Sanjeeda Khatoon of Andhra Association English School and Neha Parveen of Narbheram Hansraj English School.
In senior Boys 5 km-B Nachiketa of Narbheram Hansraj English School was first followed by Ghanshyam of AIWC Academy of Excellence and Suraj Dubey of Baridih High School.
Earlier an under-12 and under-14 Football tournament had been organized on 26th July, 2017 at Armoury Ground. An Inter JDC Doubles Badminton Tournament for the women employees of Tata Steel was also organized on 28th July, 2017at JRD Tata Sports Complex. A Road Safety Quiz and Pick and Run Competition was organized for the School Van Drivers of Jamshedpur on 28th July, 2017 at JRD Tata Sports Complex.
