Jamshedpur, September 11: A 17-year-old girl residing in Sonari, identified as the daughter of Vishambar Murmu, went missing on September 6 after posting a suicide note on Instagram and WhatsApp, alleging harassment by a boy. The girl, who resides near the Hero Honda Service Center in Jhabri Basti, left home around 2 pm, leaving a message apologizing to her father and stating her intention to end her life.
Despite repeated attempts, her parents, daily wage laborers, were initially unable to register a complaint with the Sonari police station. For three days, they were sent back under the pretext of making corrections to their application. Frustrated with the lack of action, the family approached BJP leader Vikas Singh, who intervened by contacting the police station. Following his intervention, a case was finally registered late on Monday night.
Vikas Singh, who visited the family, criticized the police for their delayed response, stating that had the matter been taken seriously earlier, the girl might have been found. He also pledged to raise the issue with the Senior Superintendent of Police to expedite the search for the missing girl.
