Noamundi, June 17: OMQ Division of Tata Steel is hosting the 15th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship in collaboration with Jharkhand Boxing Association from June 17-19, 2022 at Noamundi Boxing Centre.
The Championship was inaugurated by Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager, OMQ division in presence of Anand Bihari Dubey, Secretary, Jharkhand Boxing Association, GT Reddy, General Secretary, Noamundi Mazdoor Union and Rajiv Verma, Jharkhand Boxing Association at Noamundi Boxing Centre.
Addressing the gathering, Atul Kumar Bhatnagar, General Manager, OMQ Division said, “Tata Steel is extremely fortunate to have been given the opportunity to host this event. This championship provides an excellent platform for Jharkhand’s aspiring boxers and I wish all the competitors, good luck in their endeavours”.

The 15th Jharkhand State Boxing Championship has two categories- Junior and Youth. A total of 132 qualified entries for both categories have been received from 11 districts of Jharkhand. This includes 82 boys and 50 girls in Youth and Junior men and women categories. 14 out of 72 bouts were concluded today.
It may be noted that Noamundi Boxing Centre of Tata Steel, which is hosting this state level championship is a state-of-the-art boxing facility in West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand. Since its inception in 2017, the boxing centre has hosted 4 state level championships and has groomed more than 50 budding boxers from Noamundi and nearby villages in West Singhbhum.
