Jamshedpur, Sept. 18: �Police and supply department officials seized over 1,500 quintals of rice and wheat from two unauthorised godowns under Sakchi and Golmuri police station on Friday.

The seized food-grains were meant for distributed among people belonging to below poverty line (BPL) category under the scheme of Pradhan Mantri
Garib Kalyan Yojna and had been brought here from Food Corporation of India’s (FCI) godowns.

The team conducted raid from godowns behind the Kerala Samajam Model School, the other godown was located near Howrah Bridge along the Kalimati Road under Golmuri police area.

Special Officer (Rationing), East Singhbhum, Naveen Kumar who led the raid at both the places said that both the godowns belong to one Sanjay Mohnani who is on run.

“During investigation we found that here were 1,100 sacks, mostly that of rice, whereas at the Golmuri godown.�

We have seized the Sakchi godown, whereas the act of sealing the Golmuri godown is in the process,” said Kumar.

The team from both the godowns have recovered a large number of stickers that had been removed from the government-supplied wheat and rice.
