Jamshedpur, Oct 1: The Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) invited budding photographers from schools to participate in the Annual Photography Competition at the Centre for Excellence, Jamshedpur.

The shutterbugs from 15 schools sent more than 50 entries on the subject Food Prints.

A large amount of food is often cooked and eventually gets wasted due to various reasons. We not only end up spending money on food we don’t eat but also the rotting left-over food pumps heaps of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere polluting the air we breathe.

The talented photographers in their own creative interpretation and imagination depicted wasted un-eaten food at homes, canteens, hostels, clubs, hotels, road-side eating stalls, dhabas or anywhere else where food is bought, prepared and consumed.

The entries were accompanied by a small write-up on the kind of assertive actions the participants would take to reduce wastage of food at home.

The entries were judged today by a panel of city photographers on parameters like content, colour composition, sharpness and live pictures relevant to the given topic.
