12 films screened on ‘Shorts’ opening day

Jamshedpur, Nov 23: Two-day annual short film festival ‘Shorts’ was inaugurated Saturday with the screening of Bengali film ‘Aaj Kal Porshu’. Directed by Ashoke Viswanathan the film was appreciated by one and all. Total of 12 films were screened on day one of the festival. Movie buffs in large number were present to witness the films which included fiction and documentary. 

Earlier, the fest was inaugurated by Dr Neha Tiwary, Department Head, Mass Communication, Karim City College in presence of Tathagata Bhattacherjee, Chief, Take5 Communications, actor and journalist Goutam Shankar Das and other prominent personalities. 

On day two of the fest on Sunday, November 24, nine films will be screened and the organisers hope that the concluding day of the fest will be houseful.

There are 21 short films that would be screened during the two day event. The films are in English, Hindi and Bengali and also include few silent movies. Their span range from two minutes to 30 minutes. Out of these films, 17 are fiction while four of them are documentary.

It may be noted that Jamshedpur based Society for Promotion of Professional Excellence (SPPE) and Kolkata based Take5 Communications have been jointly organising the festival since 2008.
