Over 1000 students appear in XAT held at DBMS

Jamshedpur : More than a thousand of students from the city appeared for the XAT Xavier Admission Test, 2014, conducted by XLRI along with their counterparts from various centres across the country.

According to applicants who appeared for XAT from the city said that this year the test was tougher than last year.
The pattern of the paper has been similar like last year with a general knowledge section.

This time the first paper was of 150 minutes which had 83 questions based on quantitative ability, verbal ability and reasoning and decision making.

The examination was held at DBMS English School, the only centre in the city.

This was the third year when XLRI conducted XAT in Dubai and Kathmandu too. The overseas test centres was introduced in 2012. There were 83 centres in all the 45 cities in India, Dubai and Kathmandu.

� XAT has always focused on good language skills, decision making skills of the candidates and given all aspiring candidates ample opportunity to display their innate capabilities,� said a professor.

Ritwik Sen, an appl cant said that he is happy with his performance in XAT, but is worried about his score in the English paper. He went on to add that the paper was quite tough and he found difficult to solve the decision making part.

“While the entrance exams for many institutes are similar, each test is tailored to attract students who best fit its profile. However, XAT is the favourite choice of the students. Since the B-school is based in the city itself a large number of students appeared for the exam,” said in-charge of Career Launcher India, Jamshedpur.

The XAT is considered to be India’s second most premier MBA entrance test after the CAT (Common admission test). Organized by the XLRI School of Business and Human Resources, Jamshedpur, the exam serves as the entrance exam for various other B-Schools in India including SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (Mumbai), Alliance Business Academy (Bangalore), Goa Institue of Management (Goa), Welingkar (Mumbai) and XIM (Bhubaneshwar).

This year the XAT test was carried across 45 cities like Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, Berhampur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Cochin, Dehradun, Delhi, Goa, Gurgaon, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jamshedpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Noida, Patna, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Sambalpur, Trivandrum, Vadodara, Visakhapatnam including Dubai and Kathmandu .
