Youth attacks CS�s carcade, goes traceless

Jamshedpur: An unidentified man entered the carcade of Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma in Shankarpur under Gamharia PS on Wednesday and threw a pickaxe on a pilot police vehicle.

The CS had to return from Shankarpur without getting an opportunity to review the encroachment situation in Shankarpur under Adityapur Industrial Area. She had come to take stock of encroachment in the industrial area. But in view of the hostile situation, her security personnel and district administration officials removed the VIP visitors from the area.

Sources said around 18 acres of land belonging to AIADA is encroached in Shankarpur. The said lands are to be used to set up new industries as per the MoUs signed during Momentum Jharkhand conclave.

Sources said a youth suddenly appeared on the road and threw the sharp weapon held by him on the vehicle of Gamharia OC piloting the carcade. The youth soon disappeared into the crowd of villagers. SP Chandan Sinha took charge of the situation and accompanied the CS and other officials on their return from Shankarpur.

After the incident, the CS said she had come to the wrong place. Earlier, she visited Hathiadih in Bhatia. In view of public resistance, she had to return from there.

Local JMM leaders have come out in support of the 160 people who have been given 24 hours deadline to vacate the encroached land.
