Jamshedpur, Sept 18: Team Samarthya, the Human Potential Centre of XLRI Jamshedpur, organized the latest edition of Paakhi, its flagship menstrual hygiene awareness program, at Kerala Public School (KPS), Kadma. The initiative highlighted XLRI’s ongoing commitment to community well-being and grassroots education.

Dedicated to breaking myths and encouraging open discussions on menstrual health, Paakhi aims to empower young girls with accurate knowledge, confidence, and healthier practices. This edition was organized in collaboration with Manipal Tata Medical College (MTMC), Jamshedpur, and engaged 120 girls aged 11 years and above through interactive workshops.

The session was led by MTMC medical students Ruhani, Anjan, and four volunteers, who guided participants through discussions on hygiene practices, nutrition, and emotional well-being. Representing XLRI, Team Samarthya members Nehal, Samyak, Anshi, and Anushtha managed coordination and ensured effective engagement with the students.

Speaking about the program, Ruhani from MTMC said, “Through Paakhi, we want to normalize conversations around menstrual health and empower young girls with the knowledge and confidence to take care of their well-being.”

The event created a safe environment for students to ask questions, share personal experiences, and learn in an approachable way. By combining medical expertise with peer interaction, the sessions made the information both accessible and relatable.

Team Samarthya added, “Through Paakhi, we aim to create a ripple effect where informed young girls can influence their peers, families, and communities. Menstrual health should not be a taboo but a matter of dignity, awareness, and empowerment.”
Over the years, Paakhi has become a regular outreach activity under XLRI’s student-driven initiatives, building awareness and confidence among adolescent girls across Jamshedpur schools, and aligning with XLRI’s mission of fostering leadership with social responsibility.
