XLRI hosts Silent auction for lung cancer patients

Jamshedpur, Nov. 13: XLRI- Xavier School of Management�Jamshedpur conducted silent auction, an annual charity drive at the college campus as part of the Diwali celebrations. The Silent Auction is an initiative by CII Yi, a student club of XLRI.

Memorabilia and souvenirs collected from the students and faculty of XLRI are auctioned off on this occasion and the proceeds go to the treatment of lung cancer patients in Tata Memorial Hospital.

Over 160 items were on were up for auction this year. The auction started at�7 p.m. post the Diwali puja. Students and faculty alike thronged the stalls and bids started flowing in.

The items ranged from a rare collectible lamp to leaf painting. Apart from the various books and posters contributed by the students, artistic paintings and wall decors were contributed by professors. In keeping with last year�s tradition, innovative services were also auctioned. The services offered by professors included a session for editing and proofreading reports and pranayam sessions.

Bids ranged from a few hundred to several thousand rupees and the total amount raised exceeded expectations. The XLRI fraternity showed an overwhelming response and made the event a truly enjoyable one, all in the spirit of �The Greater Good�.

Fr. E. Abraham, S.J. Director of XLRI, commented on the occasion, sayin, �XLRI takes immense pride to be a socially conscious b-school that works for the greater good of the society. Silent Auction was a successful affair this year with the contributions and the excitement shown by the XLRI fraternity widely exceeding expectations.�
