XLRI Ensemble-Valhalla kicks off on high key

Quiz, dance, street play, standup comedy mark day 1

Jamshedpur, Nov. 1: Ensemble-Valhalla started with a big bang today. The day started with the inauguration of the fest, led by Director Father P Christie, S.J, Dr Akash Khurana, Actor, Screenplay writer and a Distinguished alumnus of XLRI, and Ranaveer Sinha, the National President of the XL Alumni Association. They spoke to students about the importance of ethics and values and why they are critical to the new generation of Managers. The ceremony ended with a one minute silence in remembrance of Father Romuald D Souza, who had served as the Director of XLRI from 1982-1989.

The cultural and business events started on a high note as teams from some of the best colleges across India put in their best foot forward. The events included a General quiz by Major Chandrakant Nair, Beat the beat- a group dance competition which saw participation from multiple colleges, Just a Minute � a heated competition filled with fun, AdMad – an advertising competition, Genesis � a business challenge, and Apollo-a product design and management competition, and Lalkaar � the street play competition. Professors of XLRI graciously judged the events. Several more events are expected to take place by the end of the day. In the sports category, Table tennis and Football were completed and many more are in process. The day ended with the stand up comedy night, in association with Bingo Comedy Adda and performed by Aakash Gupta and Karunesh Talwar at the Tata Auditorium, and Euphoria � A battle of bands, headlined by Bodhi Tree.

Series of events have been lined up for day 2. November 2 will start with Solo Dance at Tata Audi followed by Future Leaders Program, MUN, Helios Final Round, Break The Code (Offline), Idea Summit, Kavishala, Solo Singing, Prometheus Final Round, Societas, Stage Play (4 teams), War of Wits, Circus Maximus and Meri Gully Mein.

The day will end with a performance by one of India�s most popular bands, The Local Train on at Tata Auditorium. One of the main highlights of the fest is the Idea Summit scheduled on November 2, where film and television stalwarts including Shishir Sharma, Akash Khurana, Virali Modi, Arijit Biswas and Varun Mahana will come forth and share their experiences with the students.

Ensemble-Valhalla is the annual cultural, sports, and management fest of XLRI. The fest will take place on the 1st-3rd of November.
