Women to lead ‘Johar Night’ at National Mage Festival in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, April 10 : The vibrant spirit of tribal heritage will come alive as the National Mage Festival is set to be held on April 11 and 12, at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur.
Organized under the aegis of Johar Trust, this year’s celebration carries a distinctive highlight—“Johar Night” will be led entirely by women for the first time, promising a fresh and empowering dimension to the event.
The two-day festival will witness participation from tribal artists and representatives across the country, showcasing a rich tapestry of traditional songs, music, dance, and folk art. The event will also honour individuals who have made notable contributions across various fields of society.
Around 100 stalls will be set up at the venue, featuring traditional cuisine, tribal attire, art and craft, books, furniture, decorative items, electronics, and automobile exhibits. Special attractions will include indigenous herbal products and authentic tribal delicacies.
On April 11, Johar Samvad will be organised at Turamdih Club, focusing on discussions around tribal culture and traditions, alongside felicitation of distinguished contributors. The following day, April 12, will host the Mage Susun Dance Competition, where teams from 11 states will compete for a total prize pool of Rs 2.11 lakh.
The event is expected to be graced by eminent dignitaries such as Champai Soren, Arjun Munda, and Madhu Koda. The grand finale will feature the top 15 dancers, judged by Sneha Chakraborty.
With its blend of cultural pride, community participation, and women-led leadership, the festival is poised to offer an enriching and memorable experience.
