With over 300 stalls, Swadeshi Mela kicks-off at Gopal Maidan

Jamshedpur: With over 300 stalls, Swadeshi Mela, the annual fair kicked off at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur on 25th October. State food and civil supplies minister Saryu Roy inaugurated the fair.

Organised by the Centre for Bharatiya Marketing Development (CBMD), a wing of Swadeshi Jagaran Manch, the fair will continue till November 1.

The mega fair aims to promote country made products from cottage industries and other sectors has over 300 stalls comprising an array of handloom, handicraft and other products. The mela also aims to draw the limelight towards 100-odd artisans from different states of India who cannot afford to go for publicity, the fair convenor Ashok Goyal said.

He further said that artisans from Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Chhatisgarh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh are displaying their products, government agencies such as District Rural Development Authority and NABARD have also put up stalls.

Many special stalls and cultural programmes will make the event a grand success this year too, he said.

Also present during the inauguration were Jamshedpur MP Bidhut Baran Mahato, Singhbhum Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Ashok Bhalotia, Manoj Singh, a member of Swadeshi Jagran Manch, fair convenor Ashok Goyal, Bandeshankar Singh, JKM Raju and Rajkumar Sah.
