Voice raised in Jharkhand Assembly for PGT (+2) teachers

Ranchi, March 13: The issue of granting the senior pay scale to PGT (+2) teachers resonated in the Jharkhand Assembly after Potka MLA Sanjib Sardar strongly raised the matter during the ongoing session.
Through Zero Hour, he drew the attention of the School Education and Literacy Department towards the long-pending demand and urged the government to ensure that eligible teachers receive their rightful benefits without further delay.
Highlighting the matter in the House, the MLA stated that according to the Jharkhand +2 School Teachers and Non-Teaching Employees Appointment and Service Conditions Rules, 2012 (amended in 2022), PGT (+2) teachers are entitled to the senior pay scale after completing 12 years of service.
However, he pointed out that several teachers completed their 12 years of service as early as July 2024, yet they have not been granted the senior pay scale so far.
This delay, he said, has left many eligible teachers deprived of benefits that are clearly mandated under the existing rules.
Urging the state government to take immediate action, Sardar demanded that all eligible teachers be granted the senior pay scale in accordance with the rules. He emphasized that timely recognition of teachers’ service would not only boost their morale but also strengthen the overall education system.
Following the issue being raised in the Assembly, there is renewed optimism among teachers that the government will take a prompt decision and resolve the matter at the earliest.
